Blog #12: New Beginnings
So I finally have some big news for Nova Force Go! I've decided to write individual prologues for each protagonist in the series, introducing the reader to the character before the story itself starts. Each prologue will also tie into the final prologue in which the team come together to form the Nova Force and face their first threat: A deadly cult of technologically advanced alien scientists. Think of it as the first phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but WAY shorter (and far less filler *cough!* Iron Man 2!).
The first prologue will introduce us to Ardanis, a hotfooted and hotheaded mercenary. Here's a short sample of what I've got so far:
Ardanis lay on the bed aboard his ship, which was hidden in a cave on a small moon. Everything was all turned off, except the molecular transfusion drive, which Ardanis planned to use to get into his next target unannounced. For on the other side of the moon was the primary Sporotak testing facility. Ardanis had faced the Sporotak before, on a previous mission that he’d barely survived. In a rare move from him, he was playing it safe. “No point bein’ promised payment for a job if you ain’t gonna be alive t’get it.”, he thought to himself. He put a breathing mask over his face, then strapped the transfusion drive to his chest, and flicked a small switch, releasing a silver liquid-like metal that quickly covered his body for protection. “Here goes nothin'….” He muttered, reaching for the airlock release clamp.
He walked out into the airless void, and closed the door manually. Eve the signal from his ship remote would alert the Sporotak to his presence. He had to float into the cave with home-made manual thrusters, as even the engine and the controls on his ship would be picked up. “Paranoid creeps…. What have you got in there that’s so important you’ll kill anyone who comes near it?” Ardanis wondered aloud, despite nobody being able to hear him in the vacuum of space.
So far so good, and I've already got the rest of the prologues planned out. I'm hoping to find a good place to publish them when finished.
As always, I keep you updated as new things happen.
Over and out,
Aidan
